Real Wedding: Sunny & Alain

Inspired by a more traditional country club setting, Sunny and Alain’s wedding was nothing short of perfection. From the classic church ceremony to the couple’s vintage car departure for the reception, the day was timeless and elegant. Sunny and Alain wanted the day to be full of love and laughter, much like them as a couple! From the iconic ‘Bumpy Cake’ wedding cake to the whimsical candy table, this wedding was full of special, unique touches that spoke to the couple’s bubbly personalities.

When it comes to creating a truly personal wedding, it’s all about incorporating the unique characteristics and touches that are authentic to the couple. To do so, we created an aura of timeless romance, coupled with a sense of whimsy and fun. The dining room was filled with muted colors, lush florals, and the ambient glow of candlelight creating a beautiful, luxurious atmosphere. After guests enjoyed drinks and dinner, they were invited to join the newlyweds under twinkling lights to dance the night away. This special day was all about friends, family and everyone’s love for Sunny and Alain!1233a3b456788a8b8c910111213141516171819202122232425262728

Elevating Your Tablescape

Putting together your table can sometimes be a challenge – there are so many options!

We love to start by looking around for inspiration….

What season is it and what might be in bloom?

What is the character of the dining space? Are there any great accents, pieces of furniture, or patterns that you love?

Then it’s all about layering linens, china, accent elements, patterns, and florals to create a beautiful table. The more depth, layers, and composition you can add, the better, but it is all about balance and that perfect amount of character.

The final must have is always the candles because, let’s be honest, everyone looks and feels great in candlelight!! At the end of the day, some of the best memories are made at the dinner table, so set it up for the extraordinary!1 unspecified-25 2 unspecified-273 unspecified-28 4 unspecified-295 unspecified copy 7 unspecified-186 unspecified-208 unspecified-199 unspecified-910 unspecified-611 unspecified-412 unspecified-1213 unspecified-1114 unspecified-2415 unspecified-2216 unspecified-2317 unspecified-218 unspecified-1719 unspecified-1620 unspecified-21

Bars + Why We Love Them

Whether you are serving custom cocktails or your favorite beer + wine, the bar is sure to be a favorite hangout for your guests. That said, in our minds, the bar is so much more than just a place to grab a cocktail; it can serve as a décor focal point, a taste bud adventure, and a place to showcase the event brand.

When it comes to any event, the bar is definitely a focal point so we never miss an opportunity to give it the grandeur, fun, and attention it deserves. Whether you are using an existing furniture piece or building a custom bar there are always a few key must haves:

The Bar Facade — The bar is a statement so the front should be welcoming and representative of the design of the space.

The Back Bar — Storage is hugely important to ensure that the bar is organized and efficient.

The Décor (aka the fun parts) — Whether is it eclectic accents, sumptuous floral, or drink ingredients (bottles, fruit or herbs) it all can be used to make a functional, stylish, and unforgettable bar. And in our opinion the more, the merrier!

The bartending staff is also a vital part of the success of the event. A great bartender is able to create cocktails quickly and efficiently while also taking care in the quality of the cocktail. However, adding a mixologist to the bar can create a fun element where guests can try the latest cocktail trends. Mixologists have a passion for creating new + extraordinary cocktails and love to interact with guests as they try their latest creations.

The bar is the perfect location to showcase the event brand. Branded cups, cocktail napkins + stir sticks are a few of our must haves.

Enjoy some of the many delicious bars we’ve put together for our clients and let yourself be inspired to create the perfect bar for your event.

Ready, Set, Party!

In designing any event, the first step is establishing a theme, a color palette and goals for the host’s desired outcome. And in this case, the road led straight on down to the nearest football field.

This football-themed Bar Mitzvah was a celebration full of creativity, enthusiasm, and sophistication. The contemporary landscape was sleek and considered, transforming a modern warehouse space into a sophisticated stadium that appealed to both kids and adults in equal measure. From the food, to the décor, to the 20-footlong foosball table, every aspect of the night was sports-centric. And to really elevate the event, each element of the design was carefully curated to work in concert, culminating in a once in a lifetime celebration.

Grab your uniform. Put on your game face. Get ready to be carried away. Enjoy!

Amy’s Surprise 40th Birthday

When it comes to any event, it’s all about the guest of honor. And in this instance, the fun-loving personality of the guest of honor, Amy, inspired a bright and cheery event full of chic pops of color.

The event took place at the charming and rustic Barndiva, in Healdsburg, CA—an art-filled interior with a relaxed atmosphere and gorgeous outside space. It was the perfect place to host a surprise bash full of charm and character that truly personified the guest of honor.

Of course, we love planning any event; but seeing Amy’s face light up as she was greeted by her friends and family made this event one of our favorites. Enjoy!

Invitations really set the tone for any event, and this watercolor-inspired invite was no exception. Guests were even asked to share four words that described Amy, which foreshadowed the special night to come.

The evening began with cocktails in the Garden where guests enjoyed an intimate setting draped in soft colors and enveloping light. To add personalization to the beautiful space, the tin wall at the back of the Garden featured an installation of white frames with colored words describing Amy.

After cocktails in the Garden, the dinner celebration was held underneath a ceiling of soft lights strung along an iron trellis. Guest dined at long wooden and fabric clothes tables with vintage iron chairs.

The dinner tables were dressed in simple, elegant accents of stunning floral, along with hand penned plates which served as place cards at each setting. The tablescapes were also filled with yellow wax candles made by the guest of honor’s adorable kids!

Following Dinner, guests were welcomed into the Studio space for dancing and cocktails. The amazing sounds of the band set the tone for guests to dance the night away. There was also a dramatically lit rectangle table in the center of the room, featuring a graphic presentation of the “40 Things We Love About Amy!” This was a fun collection of words that guests had written down to describe Amy when they sent back their RSVP cards.

Ski-Themed Winter Wedding

This industrial winter wedding stylized shoot was inspired by a pair of skis and the desire to stay inside, nice and warm on a cold Michigan day. The wedding took place in a gorgeous loft-space at the Meeting House in Rochester. The building’s exposed brick and vents made for the perfect setting for our industrial space wedding. Fleur Detroit brought the outside in, with soft and wispy winter floral, while the Home Bakery across the street designed a fun (and extremely delicious) inside-out rustic caramel cake. Did we mention it was covered in marshmallows and drizzled in caramel too? YUM. Lastly, there was a make your own hot cocoa bar with homemade, oversized marshmallows. The perfect way for this bride and groom to stay warm on a cold winter’s day… other than their love, of course.

In The Mood For A Mood Baby Shower

Baby showers are such a joyous occasion, but planning an event feels extra special when it’s for one of our own. Back in the spring of 2014, we had the fun experience of throwing a bash for Mood Events team member, Lauryn, and we’re so excited to relive it with you today on the blog!

It was a lighthearted celebration full of food, drinks, bright décor, family and friends. The vibrant shower theme was travel, celebrating the parents-to-be’s love of exploring and seeing the world.  We took a non-traditional and casual approach to the occasion, one that would welcome all of their guests, both men and women, who were coming together to shower the parents-to-be with joy!  The celebration took place at Local Kitchen and Bar in Ferndale, MI, where we transformed the space utilizing a modern pink and blue color palette. The tasteful accessories such as oversized balloons, Gerber daisies, and creatively adorned tabletops added to the fun.

While we LOVE paper, sometimes we do branch out into the digital world as we did here with a very personal, sweet video evite. Check the video out here: http://laszczak-babyshower.craftedtoyou.com. But never fear, we had lots of paper love on event day!! Custom map elements and posters featuring sayings such as, Oh, the places she’ll go and The world is her oyster, brought this celebration of a new little traveler to life!  There was a handmade photo backdrop wall made of fabric strips along one wall where guests could snap their photos with a Polaroid.  There was also a sweets table backed with maps and colorful pinwheels (handmade by our very own, the lovely Shannon).

It was a strolling event, so drinks were passed and delicious food stations offered plenty of fun brunch selections. The bar was set for made to order Bloody Mary’s, sangria, and interesting beers. Guests departed with full bellies, full hearts, and travel boxes of handmade chocolates made by the Grandmas-to-be.

It was a truly unique event, one that we will cherish forever. It feels like yesterday, but our fifth Mood little lady is already nearly 2 years old! How times travels when you’re having fun… and we’re always having fun!

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween Everyone! Ghosts, goblins, and ghouls beware because we created a Sweets Inspired Halloween Birthday Party that’s so cute it’s scary. It was so spooktacular, it was even featured on Kara’s Party Ideas this month. Be sure to check out our feature here! Since we simply cannot get enough of this delicious party (and these two adorable trick-or-treaters), here are a few extra photos to start your Halloween off right.

Enjoy and have a safe and happy Halloween everyone!

LaurynAnnPhotographyMoodEventsShootWe teamed up with Lauryn Ann Photography on this sweet bash in an effort to inspire mommies and daddies everywhere to think outside the box (and perhaps inside the box of candy) when it comes to themed parties.

The party was thrown for the guest of honor, Penelope (also known as Pepper) and her BFF Olivia (also known as Olive). A pepper and an olive! Adorable already, right? With Halloween just around the corner we knew it was the perfect theme to help celebrate this special birthday, but orange and black simply wouldn’t cut it for such a colorful one year old. Inspired by two of the cutest dessert themed costumes e.v.e.r. (an ice-cream cone and a cupcake) we decided to brighten up this spooky holiday and plaster the room with bright pinks, oranges, and purples. The party featured a full sweets table and an intimate table for two. The talented ladies at Love and Buttercream made a delicious birthday cake, as well as a super cute pumpkin cake, cake pops, and teeny-tiny cupcakes. The Balloon Lady, Shelley Sams, provided us with some amazing over-sized balloons. And as a special favor for the kiddos, we made pink and orange tie-dye pillowcases – the perfect takeaway for two first time trick-or-treaters and an easy DIY for parents. Let’s just say that between the bright colors and all of the tasty treats, this little Pepper had the time of her life – so far.
