Hoppy Easter!

Happy Good Friday Everyone! Easter is just two days away and we’re feeling the holiday love all over the internet. From Facebook to Pinterest to Twitter there is an endless amount of pastel inspiration floating around today and we are diggin’ it. We’re also pretty shocked at how far Easter egg decorating has come! Remember when you used to purchase the little kit full of primary colors, dip away, and voilà, you’re done. I think the fanciest we ever got was the magic crayon. Remember that? Friends, it appears that ship has sailed!

Check out all of these gorgeous eggs we found. Metallics and confetti, and whipping cream, oh my! These days the possibilities are endless. Here are a handful of creative eggs that caught our eye and we’re positive they will have you swooning too. What do you think? Do we have you throwing away your traditional dyeing tray already? The Easter egg will never be the same.

The Mood Team wishes you a wonderful holiday weekend. Enjoy and Hoppy Easter!

In the Mood for a Baby Shower

A Mood Baby Shower

Here at Mood Events we’re working on some pretty spectacular parties, but one that we are SUPER (DUPER) excited about hits a little closer to home. So close to home in fact, let’s just say our guest of honor is sitting in our office every single day. That’s right, we’re throwing a bash for Mood Events team member and expecting mom, Lauryn!

The Mood Team

Baby showers are such a joyous occasion, but planning an event feels extra special when it’s for one of our own. Did we mention it’s a travel themed couples baby shower? Let the fun begin!

Along with family and friends, Lauryn and Ronnie will celebrate their sweet baby girl’s near arrival at Local Kitchen & Bar in Ferndale, MI. The party space will be transformed and filled with sparkling blues, and bright shades of coral and pink.  Custom “map” elements will bring this celebration of a new little traveler to life!  Florals will adorn table tops, adding great color without being too “girly.” It’s a strolling event, so no traditional table settings here. Instead, hors d’oeuvres will be passed, delicious food stations will offer plenty of fun brunch selections, and a sweets table will offer delectable desserts to make any sweet (or savory) tooth happy. Last but certainly not least, the bar will be set for made to order Bloody Mary’s, sangria, and interesting beers. Guests will depart with full bellies and full hearts after this special day of celebration!

We don’t want to give away too much just yet, but that’s a sneak peek of what we’re planning (minus some surprise details). Lauryn is in our office after all, we can’t give away all the juicy details. Wink, wink. The shower is less than two weeks away, so stay tuned for the final reveal!

Entertaining Essentials: Oscar Party

Throw on your best attire and roll out the red carpet (or at the very leasta solid red table runner) because the 86th Academy Awards air live this Sunday, March 2nd! It’s the perfect excuse to throw a last-minute, themed party for your movie-loving friends. No need to go crazy here either. With just a few entertaining essentials, you’ll have an Oscar worthy event in no time!

OscarParty

Invites – It’s never too late to send out a glamorous invite. Check out Paperless Post for all of their Oscar-inspired electronic invitations. They even have an entire “Award Show Viewing” section to start your themed party off right.

Gold Foil Glassware – Hollywood inspired glassware is a must here! By sticking to a simple color palette of black, white, and gold, you can easily add small touches of bling in unexpected places. The glassware pictured above can be a quick, DIY project as well. Perfect for a list-minute touch of glam.

Popcorn Bar - No film-inspired celebration is complete without the right amount of snacks and popcorn is an absolute must. Plus how cute are these printable mini-popcorn tubs?

Faux Marquee Letters - No need to go on the hunt for vintage marquee letters, get crafty instead!  All it takes is some papier-mâché letters, paint, and foam dots and you’ll have your guests gawking in no time.

Oscar Ballots – As if the hilarious and talented Ellen DeGeneres isn’t enough to keep your guests interested throughout the length of the show, keep them glued with these printable Oscar Ballots. By asking everyone to cast their votes, they will be on the edge of their seats all night long. P.S. Forget the cheesy cardboard cutouts of The Oscar Statuette and check out these Ken Doll Oscars! Hilarious!

Glitter & Confetti - Need we say more? Nothing says glitz and Hollywood glam like these tuxedo confetti poppers. Did we mention that they are completely adorable???

Festive Drinks – Yes, please! No Hollywood party is complete without a classic specialty drink. Champagne splits are the perfect treat throughout the night, especially if you expect your bash to quickly become an Oscar After-Party.

Swag Bags – Treat your guests like the A-List celebs they are with a fun, festive departing gift. The stars always walk away with a bag full of goodies, so wow your guests with the same red-carpet treatment!

Party Inspiration: Sprinkles

Sprinkles anyone? Sprinkles have been around for a long time (fun fact: they date back to the late 18th century) but an entire sprinkle-inspired party? Well this concept is definitely a bit more recent, but it’s trending nonetheless. Here at Mood, it’s our latest obsession. From birthday bashes to showers, these colorful confections will brighten any event, big or small.  We’re positive by the time you reach the end of this post, your answer to the above question will be, “Sprinkes? Yes, please!”

How To Make A Photo Backdrop Wall

Photowall5_4
Here in Michigan, it’s nice and cold outside! In other words, we’re staying warm inside the office, planning some fabulous indoor events. What better way to keep your guests entertained than a photo backdrop wall? It’s fun and it makes for beautiful decor. Win, win! Oh, did we mention it’s easy? In four easy steps you can have this gorgeous backdrop up and running. Here’s how:PhotoWall1
To start, simply visit your local craft store and purchase your backdrop. We decided on a gold color palette and picked out these four shades to accent one another. With roughly 20 scrapbook pages of each color, we were able to cover  a very large brick wall, approximately 8×10 feet.PhotoWall2
At no added cost, we simply used a kitchen pot lid to outline our circles. This was a great way to keep every circle (or in this case 80 circles) a uniform size and shape.PhotoWall3
Cut, cut, cut…
Photowall6

… and hang! Once you’re at your backdrop’s ending location, start assembling. Using three sticky dots towards the top of each circle, hang one at a time, starting at the top and working your way down. The process takes approximately an hour. Once it’s finished, place a polaroid nearby or your guests can even use their iPhone for instant results. The fun lasts for hours!

PhotoWall4
What do you think? Nice and easy, right? Perhaps it’s time to create a photo backdrop of your own or maybe you have created one recently? If so, we would love to hear about it!
